HI, I’M MARK

THERAPIST, COACH AND EDUCATOR

I’ve been studying psychology, spirituality and the most effective therapies for over thirty years. I’ve integrated evidence based tools to alleviate the suffering that comes from an unhealthy mind. I see the primary source of unhappiness stems from an unhealthy relationship we have with our inner world. Whether you are struggling with severe anxiety,  depression or everyday life stress, this approach will address the root cause of your unhappiness, your untrained mind. I like to consider this approach a user’s manual for the mind. It will take care of that bully inside as you develop the mental agility to navigate the inner world of thinking, feeling and sensing. You’ll look at the rules you created around happiness and decide if those rules need to be modified. This is the way to master your two core relationships: the relationship you have with your inner world and the relationship you have with your outer world which will ultimately lead you to reconnect to doing more of what matters.

 This is my story

I personally know a lot about the pain of addictive over thinking, obsessive fear and anxiety that comes from an untamed mind. Since I was in elementary school, I was bullied by worries; they consumed me to the point of living 24/7 in a world of terrifying thoughts that I believed would come true. These were thoughts of illness, anguish and dying that progressively got worse and opened to other anxiety, fear of failure, chronic inadequacy and painful shyness which led to a host of unhealthy coping behaviors.

The turning point came at the age of 18 when I decided to major in psychology and I immersed myself in all forms of therapy, behavior change and spirituality.. I was particularly drawn to cognitive behavioral therapy and became absorbed in meditation, contemplation and Buddhist psychology. In doing this, I began researching and writing about the integration of mindfulness training and cognitive therapy. I started experimenting on my own mind and with hard work, became healthier and happier. I began to frame therapy and personal development as mastering these two core relationships with the mind and the world and begins by training the mind in mindfulness and acceptance. This approach continues to evolve to this day but always comes down to these relationships. Striving for excellence to be the best you can be is the goal. Adding advanced skills, taking your life to a new level and never settling will consistently yield the results you want.

Reconnect to what’s important and use this approach as your guide to optimal living. I hope you’ll join me on this journey as I share this approach and teach optimal health and wellbeing!
